Outline of the public call for collaborative research and research meetings for fiscal year 2017 (Start of the public call: October 2016)

Since having been recognized as a Joint Usage/Research Center for the Multi-Stratified Host Defense System on April 1, 2010, the Medical Institute of Bioregulation, Kyushu University has been promoting collaborative research with researchers involved in host-defense studies. We have established two projects: (1) an instrument usage type project in which collaborative research is conducted using the multi-stratified levels of research facility infrastructure and the technology of this institute (a maximum budget of 500,000 yen, including travel and accommodation expenses, is distributed); and (2) a collaborative research type project (travel and accommodation expenses only) that aim at clarifying the host-defense system using the knowledge accumulated about host defense in this institute. We publicly call for research proposals for fiscal year 2017.
In addition, we also call for proposals for research meetings that aim at information exchange and presentation of results among researchers involved in host-defense studies.

Collaborative research:

We call for collaborative research proposals on the following eight themes, which fall under four types of research. We are currently waiting for applications from researchers.
ThemesProject typeDownload
1. Genomics, Epigenomics and Transcriptomics
(1) Instrument usage type project
(expenses related to the use of instruments are provided)
(2) Collaborative research type project
(travel and accommodation expenses only)
2. Proteomics and Metabolomics
3. Structural Biology
4. Embryonic and Genetic Engineering

How to apply:

If you wish to apply for collaborative research, please complete the following details in the application form and send it to us: (1) the title of the research theme, (2) your choice of project type (instrument usage or collaborative research), (3) the content of research and the planned date of execution of the research, (4) expected results, and (5) the name of the facilitator of the institute. In addition, please discuss the content of the research with the facilitator of the institute before sending your completed application form.
We will inform you about the status of acceptance of your application at a later period. In the case of instrument usage projects, the cost of reagents etc. required for the collaborative research will be borne by the institute, as per the budget.
Each researcher is allowed to submit one application for collaborative research this year, and the same theme can be used for a maximum duration of 2 years.

Application Deadline: Friday, February 24, 2017

Research meeting:

We publicly call for proposals for meetings focusing on information exchange and presentation of research results among researchers involved in host-defense studies, or meetings for planning collaborative research among such researchers.
